Spring
This morning
two birds
fell down the side of the maple tree
like a tuft of fire
a wheel of fire
a love knot
out of control as they plunged through the air
pressed against each other
and I thought
how I meant to live a quite life
how I meant to live a life of mildness and meditation
tapping the careful words against each other
and I thought—
as though I were suddenly spinning like a bar of silver
as though I had shaken my arms and lo! they were wings—
of the Buddha
when he rose from his green garden
when he rose in his powerful ivory body
when he turned to the long dusty road without end
when he covered his hairs with ribbons and the petals of flowers
when he opened his hands to the world

The aim of the Breathworks Foundation, a registered charity, is to focus on building community, conducting research into mindfulness and funding charitable activities such as bursary places.
The Foundation has three core aims:
We provide information and support to professionals and members of the public interested in the applications of mindfulness.
We work with individuals, training providers and other institutions to improve the education of healthcare and other professionals, disseminating the results of research and promoting the use of mindfulness-based approaches.
You can help support the Foundation by joining us as a member. We have three different membership categories, which enable you to gain access to a wealth of information about the use of mindfulness-based approaches. By joining you will gain access to a network of like minded people, including those benefiting from the application of mindfulness as well as those involved in helping others. You will also be helping us provide funding for research and other activities.
We are developing a range of member benefits over the year aimed at providing regular communication and sharing of ideas. These include newsletters, more frequent information sharing using email, websites and social networking.
In addition you can choose to help fund our work through one-off and regular donations, including legacy giving. If you are a UK taxpayer, supporting our work in this way means we receive extra support through the Gift Aid scheme.

A camera (especially a digital one as it gives instant returns) can be a great tool in our daily mindfulness practice. Every picture captures a moment when we were mindful. Whether a moment of beauty, fun, joy or something else that we found engaging. Reviewing them (hence the benefit of digital) at the end of a walk or day out helps us reflect , even using the five step process, being aware, noticing pleasant and unpleasant (the things we take pictures of, the memories, thoughts and emotions… Continue
